TRAINING SCHOOL 1: LESVOS (GREECE)
Multidisciplinary training school on multilingualism and visit to NGO working with refugees: The training school provided ESRs with multidisciplinary courses on multilingualism and training in research methods. The programme included courses on: 1) linguistic theories of multilingualism, 2) child bi-/multilingualism, 3) heritage language development, 4) cognitive aspects of multilingualism, 5) neuroscience of language in multilinguals, 6) teaching methods in children with a refugee background. Furthermore, ESRs attended workshops for in depth training in research methods that are necessary for all ESRs. A visit to an NGO working with refugees was also part of the programme.
Location
The training school took place in Lesvos (Greece) from 6 to 17 May 2019. All participants of the training school stayed at Hotel Votsala and this is also where the courses took place.
